It's Election Week. Although there is no presidential election, there are general elections coming up, and another testament to a peaceful transition.

I think it's always important that we are grateful for what we have. So I found this really great lesson plan that teaches about why every vote counts. When your child understands and participates in the process that's what makes the difference between democracy and dictatorship. This lesson explains the difference and why every vote counts

Plus, did you know that voter fraud has been around for a while! I'm talking about one of our history's early elections! The question is, how did a small wooden box help eliminate slavery in the mid-19th century? And what does that have to do with voter fraud?

In Honor Of Election Week

During my research one thing kept coming back to me. The idea was that your attitude is critical. Is this real?  I wish my parents handed me that genie when I was young so I can have that dream life.  The truth is that it is real, and you and your child can have this genie if you want to have it. The only reason we don't have it is because we didn't know that this genie exists and is available to us all.  Some people already have them.  You know these people, they are the happiest people that appreciate life and things come to them easily.  You see them around you, always happy. You hear about them having this major luck landing in their laps.  They are also the industry leaders. These things can happen to you too if you truly want them. So how do you get it? You've heard about "The Secret" the movie and all its possibilities. I didn't find out about the movie like most people did  when it aired on Oprah.  I heard it through a trusted friend about a week before it aired on Opra. Once my husband and I saw the movie, we have done nothing else than to study and research the roots of "The Secret".  I am only upset at myself for not finding out about this earlier. When I first saw the Movie "The Secret" I was immediately intrigued. It rang true on too many levels to ignore. But, I had to know more. This is especially true when they said that these ideas are not new to mankind. In fact, they pre-date recorded history. A man named Napoleon Hill went to interview unarguably the most successful man in America and proably the world at the time: Andrew Carnegie. What started as a short interview turned into a three-day interview. At the end of the interview Carnegie assigned Napoleon Hill the task of recording Carnegie's secrets to creating his vast fortune and successes. At the same time, Cargnegie introduced Napoleon Hill to the most successful men of the time: Edison, Ford, Wrigley (as in gum), George Eastman (of Kodak), Gilette (as in the razor), Alexander Graham Bell, Woodrow Wilson, Wilbur Right. Just a handful out of literally hundreds. As Napoleon Hill began to interview these people he discovered an incredible nexus. All these people knew the same secret. It was the same secret that Carnegie had told him. They were all using the same secret to create incredible fortunes. Fortunes of money, but more importantly fortunes of spirit and personality. And now, our wish is for our children to have that genie.  Let them know they have it and show them how to use it. I think that is the hardest part. Even though we know we have this power it's difficult for us to apply them because of our upbringing.  We were told that we could not do this or that, we could not have this or that.  So our brains are accustomed to hearing the negative and now we believe that to be true. I don't want the same fate for our children. I want them to know the world is theirs and they can be, do or have what ever they wish. Since we homeschool our children, this is now just one of the subjects they study on a regular basis.  So we have created a curriculum so that our children and rest of the world's children may also harness the power of "The Secret".
